Please read the following information and guidance on colour carefully to ensure you get the results you expect on your printed discs and packaging.
It is important to note that colours printed on the face of a disc can vary from what you might expect. Printing on discs is not the same as printing on paper, and may also vary between the various disc printing processes - litho, screen or thermal.
Discs produced with thermal or litho print will be out of process colours (CMYK) only, and can be put onto either a white base or directly on the silver disc face. Screen print can be made up of up to 6 special colours (including the option of white base) but unlike litho or thermal print, screen print is unsuitable for disc artwork containing any images, tints or halftones. If special colours are required then please provide us with the reference number at time of order.
Printed parts for standard packaging are generally litho printed, unless a very small run is required which can sometimes be produced using digital print. Booklets & inlays and 5" Card Wallets will be run to weight out of process colours (CMYK) as prices are based on batching with other work and the colour will be subject to slight variations. |
Bespoke packaging items such as the Digipak, are not generally batched, due to the individual requirements to be produced. Clients can specify the use of special colours along with any number of embellishments, embossing, foil blocking, varnishing or indeed the use of non standard boards e.g. foil or holographic boards.
If colour matching is critical on discs or any printed parts then we are able to produce calibrated proofs, at extra cost, on request. Individual, non-batched runs of booklets, inlays and 5" Card Wallets can also be produced to match a calibrated proof, or to add special colours, at additional cost on request if required.
If calibrated proofs are not requested we will run to weight. Electronic proofs are for content only and can not be used as a guide for colour.
Please ensure images within artwork are prepared in CMYK format at 300dpi resolution. Visit our 'Supply of parts' page for further guidance on supplying artwork and what to supply with your order.
